Week 10: Body Done, Testing Time

Not a whole lot going on today, just adding some more wood glue and patching up some spots. We're awfully low on wood glue (partially thanks to Parker), so good thing we're done. We took the boat to my house after school (around 3, while it was still raining). Hopefully the boat won't sink and we'll be able to start adding the electrical components next week.

Week 10: A Whole Lot of Wood Glue

We're more or less done with the body after today, finally. All we have to do is look for any little holes we missed and fill them with wood glue. We'll have to wait for it to dry of course, so we'll be bringing the boat to my house on Friday. There's super testing for underclassmen this week, so we won't be here Tuesday and Wednesday.

Week 9: Almost Done

So it looks like we'll have to finish applying the wood glue next week, as it took a bit longer than I predicted. It's nothing difficult though, and we should be able to bring the boat over to my house at the end of next week to make some final touches before testing it out in water (check for leaks). I have a canal in my backyard, so we don't have to go very far. There's also super testing next week for underclassmen, so we we'll be losing some time to that.

Week 9: Panels Go

Our plan for this week is to add the panels (if I had a dollar for every time I've said that...), so we've started cutting out all the pieces and marking where all the screws will be once we decide to apply some wood glue. Hopefully we'll have the whole body done by the end of this week or early next week.

(the piece he was cutting already fell and he's trimming the rest, it looks awkward I know)

Week 8: Frame Done

Not gonna lie, we did get a little sidetracked this week, be it banter between us or helping other groups (looking at you Jimmy). People also like borrowing our battery or *cough* taking our wood glue *cough*. Nevertheless, the frame is done and we finished sanding all the rough edges for the panels. Maybe we can actually be productive next week and finish the panels.

Week 8: Angles Are Still Annoying

We found that we messed up one of the angled pieces when we started working today, so we had to make some small cuts and adjust the pieces. Fun. We'll start adding the panels and wood glue to the boat this week once we're done with the angled front. Also, Adi's been showing up for moral support, so that's great. Good thing we have the electrical part mostly figured out for after this body is done.

Week 7: This Thing is Finally Taking Shape

Building is going pretty well now, with the frame actually starting to resemble a boat. We're finishing the front of the boat (making sure we don't mess up the angled pieces) so we can add the walls and start using the electrical components next week. I forgot to mention Tuesday but Martin just got some brand jigsaws and drills, so that has been speeding things up this week (in comparison to the week before break).

Week 7 - Back from Spring Break

We're back from spring break after visiting some colleges (Tyler) and conquering the Keys (Juan) to start building the boat itself. We'll start with the 2x2 frame of the boat before adding the walls. Hopefully we'll be done with the structure of the boat by the end of next week so we can start adding the motor and batteries for testing.
